Since the introduction of the Liquor Control Act in May 2007 the new small bar licence has found favour. Some 19 applications have been granted and an additional 11 have been lodged for processing at the licensing authority. Interestingly, in nearly all cases it has only taken an average of two to four months to be processed. This demonstrates the authority's ability to manage and process small bar applications quickly and effectively as compared to other applications.
To further facilitate both small bar licences and other licences which are unique and have tourist appeal, Lavan Legal has established the Small Bar Association of W.A. Inc. The new body will be publicly launched on Monday, 20 April 2009 at Lavan Legal's offices.
