Subject to some limitations, a blanket extended trading permit (ETP) has been granted for most liquor stores situated outside the metropolitan area.

This will allow the stores trade from 10am to 10pm on the following Sundays:

  • 16 December 2018
  • 23 December 2018
  • 30 December 2018

The ETP remains in force until the end of 30 December 2018.

However, a number of licences in restricted areas have been excluded.  Click here to view the Government Gazette for further information.  It is also recommended that all licensees check their licences, as some may be subject to their own special conditions.

This was covered in our September 2018 edition of The Hospitality Messenger.  Click here to view the rest of the publication.

Liquor stores outside the metropolitan area wanting to trading on other Sundays need to apply to the licensing authority for their own  ongoing ETP.  The application would need to be well-supported by probative evidence to show that there are exceptional circumstances that support trading on a day that is otherwise not permitted and to demonstrate why the ETP is in the public interest .

If you would like to discuss applying for an ongoing Sunday ETP for your liquor store, please do not hesitate to contact our team.
