RugbyWA
RugbyWA is the governing body of rugby union in Western Australia. RugbyWA was founded in 1893 and club competition was first contested here 70 years later. RugbyWA incorporates both professional and community rugby and is run by its ‘shareholders’, namely WA clubs and affiliated bodies (juniors, schools, referees, women’s and country rugby). Western Australia’s bid for entry into an expanded Super 12 competition started in 2002. The bid was backed by the Western Australian government and in 2004 RugbyWA beat Victoria for inclusion in the 2006 Super 14 competition and the Western Force was established.
