In my
latest article for Business News, I look at the issue of hospital discharge
delays for people with disability in the context of Minister Bill Shorten’s
recent comments about these being caused by the ‘faceless bureaucrats’ at the
NDIA.
Whilst it looks like Shorten is wanting to make some changes, the most
efficient NDIA decision-making and the best hospital discharge processes in the
world mean nothing if the person does not have suitable accommodation (with
support) to go to. We need genuine engagement on a collaborative
cross-government and cross-sector approach that uses a systems lens to identify
barriers and solutions to hospital discharge delays for people with
disability.
