Saving lives and building great communities along the coastline of Western Australia,
is at the core of Surf Life Saving Western Australia (SLSWA).

With over 23,000 members and 31 surf life saving clubs located along the WA coast from Esperance to Broome, SLSWA plays a fundamental role in building healthy and resilient communities by developing great Western Australians.

SLSWA is a volunteer based not‐for‐profit community service association and is the peak coastal safety agency in Western Australia. It has provided an essential educational and emergency rescue service to all users of West Australian beaches for over 100 years.

As part of educating the broader community on coastal safety through training, education and public awareness programs, SLSWA provides a variety of first aid training to the general public, community groups and commercial organisations.

When you head out for a day at a patrolled beach, you’ll see the iconic red and yellow flags and uniforms of our volunteer lifesavers – it the largest volunteer movement of its kind in WA and protects millions of beachgoers each season.

As a member of the national Surf Life Saving movement, they are part of the history, fabric and future of Australia. They represent the lifestyle, values and beliefs of the Aussie culture.

Lavan is proud to be the named sponsor of the ‘Lavan Club of the Year’ awards, which are presented at the Surf Life Saving WA’s annual Awards of Excellence. These awards recognise the significant contributions that SLSWA volunteers and clubs make to keep Western Australian beaches safe and build strong coastal communities.
