Surfing WA has been the governing body of surfing in the state since 1964, covering all board riding codes including shortboarding, longboarding, bodyboarding and stand up paddle boarding.

Surfing WA seeks to encourage, promote, advance and administer the sport of surfing in WA. The organisation is actively involved in all levels of the industry, from developing educational programs and training coaches and judges, to providing pathway initiatives for both young and experienced surfers.

Surfing WA is responsible for managing state-wide events from grassroots through to professional.

Surfing WA has over 30 affiliated board rider clubs and over 18 licensed surf schools, operating from Karratha in the north of the state to Esperance in the south.

Surfing WA is proud to provide pathways and opportunities to participate for all West Australians.

The annual Lavan Whalebone Longboard Classic is a highlight of the Western Australian surfing calendar and attracts surfers from across the state to compete at Isolators Reef, Cottesloe every July.
