Dragana Blackwood

Dragana is a strategic adviser and skilled negotiator and litigator with a focus on advising private clients, in areas of family law, estate and succession planning, and alternative dispute resolution.  Her strong academic background, including a Master of Laws with a focus on commercial and resources law and Master of Laws (Applied) majoring in Estate Planning, together with her extensive practical experience, have equipped her with a unique set of skills that enable her to handle even the most sensitive issues with professionalism, care, and technical proficiency.

As a trained mediator and dispute resolution professional, Dragana has a proven track record of achieving successful and timely outcomes for clients through negotiation and amicable resolution.  Where settlement cannot be achieved, Dragana represents clients as Counsel or instructor in contested Family Law proceedings.

Dragana is committed to achieving efficient and commercially sound outcomes for her clients and understands the emotional sensitivity and complexity that often comes with private client work.  She works closely with her clients to understand their needs and goals and provides tailored legal advice that takes into account clients’ specific circumstances.

Having worked with a diverse range of clients, Dragana is well-equipped to handle a broad spectrum of legal matters. She collaborates with other advisers, including accountants, financial planners, and lawyers, to ensure her clients receive comprehensive legal advice and holistic approach to their matters.  In addition to her client work, Dragana is passionate about sharing her knowledge with others and frequently delivers training and presentations at industry seminars and among professional networks.

Dragana is an appointed member of the Family Law Practitioners’ Association of Western Australia Committee and the Law Society of Western Australia’s Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Brief Editorial Committees. She has previously held the position of Non-Executive Director of a not-for-profit organisation. Prior to commencing her legal career, Dragana gained valuable experience working in federal politics, equipping her with a sophisticated understanding of Australia’s system of government, parliamentary processes, and legislative analysis.
