What makes Lavan exceptional
Our people thrive
A values‑driven, people‑first firm where you grow
We are deeply committed to creating a workplace where every person feels supported, cared for, and equipped to thrive. Our culture is shaped by our core Values — Courage, Fulfilment, Excellence, Integrity and Collaboration and these guide everything we do, from how we work with clients to how we develop and celebrate our people.
We know that a strong, connected and compassionate workplace enables people to reach their potential. That is why we are intentional about fostering a culture that is inclusive, uplifting and oriented around growth. When one of us succeeds, we all celebrate together. When challenges arise, we stand alongside each other with curiosity, empathy and courage.
We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer, and we champion equity, diversity and inclusiveness in meaningful and practical ways. Regardless of gender, age, ethnic or cultural background, disability, family responsibilities, sexual orientation or religion, every person at Lavan is valued, respected and offered equal access to opportunity. Our differences strengthen us; our shared commitment to integrity and collaboration unites us.

Diversity, equity and inclusion
Lavan is fully committed to ensuring diversity, equity and inclusion is an integral part of the way we do business. We seek to create, promote and maintain an environment within the firm in which its people fairly and instinctively consider and respect the needs and interests of all people of all backgrounds. We recognise the value of attracting and retaining staff members with different backgrounds, knowledge, experiences and abilities.
The Firm’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee is responsible for examining issues, sharing ideas and ensuring best practices regarding diversity and the firm’s workplace culture.
Rostrum public speaking clubs of WA
Lavan stands out as Western Australia’s only professional services firm with its own registered Rostrum club—a public speaking group affiliated with Rostrum Clubs of WA to help members develop strong communication and public speaking abilities.
Founded in 2009 at Lavan, “Rostrum Club 5” originally aimed to boost the presentation and advocacy skills of junior lawyers. The club still meets this goal, but it is now open to all Lavan employees, who are welcome to attend meetings as guests or become members.
Each week, lively meetings follow a unique agenda where members deliver short speeches in a friendly, supportive setting. Participants have practical opportunities to practise impromptu speaking, receive helpful feedback, and build confidence addressing an audience. Attending regularly enables both seasoned professionals and newcomers to sharpen their communication skills.
Lavan Club 5 has produced two Western Australian “Speakers of the Year” and numerous finalists, as well as winners of other Rostrum Clubs of WA competitions, including comedy and debating. It was also awarded “Club of Excellence” in 2021.
